Tornado strikes Allendale, SC

Thomas and Tremaine Cohen weren’t inside their home when a tornado ripped its roof Tuesday afternoon in Allendale, South Carolina. Alerted just before it hit their property along Rt. 278, Tremaine, a deputy sheriff, said she watched it hit her home. Tuesday’s storms are part of multi-day weather event that continues to threaten the south with damaging storms.

City officials are organizing a relief fund for those in need. Check back for updates.

The storm tossed old empty fertilizer tanks across Rt. 278 and into neighboring properties.
