Mt. Airy Carnival: Photo Workshop - Day 1

For the first of a two day photography workshop at the the Volunteer Fireman’s Carnival in Mt. Airy, Maryland, I led a student through how I approach making photos at an event like this. During our morning coffee session we formalized specifics for our two day approach to the carnival, where we’d spend the first evening using a hybrid shadow experience.

In this approach I led the way and the student watched how I approached and photographed people. As the evening moved along, the student became the primary photo maker. During the second day of this workshop, we return to the carnival and we shift all the focus on the student making photos. I may not even bring my camera out. To be determined.
Tomorrow, I’m headed east to the Delaware State Fair in Harrington.
