“Once I played a show sleeveless for the first time and I realized the perks of additional air flow I was sold,” said Mids vocalist Dylan Dickerson, about his decision to go sleeveless yesterday during the debut of the Stomping Grounds Festival, “Plus it’s an easy way to show off my tattoos of all my pets.”
As the temperature climbed to 99 degrees in Columbia, SC on Saturday, sleeves became a rarity. The crowd followed the shadow of the abandoned warehouse, soon to be apartments at Marion and Elmwood pushing through the heat like true battle tested southerners. Some were relegated to chairs as others danced.
The two day fest featured a Saturday music lineup with Lola Grace, Kimber, Hillmouse, H3RO, Alan Charmer, Collete March, Preach Jacobs, Soda City Brass Band, Death Ray Robin, Mids, Master Splinta, Stankface — with an after party by Folktech
On Sunday, June 14, the festival transitions from music to film with The Jasper Project and Reel Vantage Films celebrating local filmmaking. Sunday’s event begins at 2pm with short films and conversations with filmmakers, actors, and producers.
Featuring Chris Bickel, William Nicholas Clay, PatX, Amy Brower, Wade Sellers and Bakari Lebby.
