Father's Day Gifts for Photographer Dads (2026)

I’ve been a photographer for more than a quarter century and I’ve watched people struggle to find photo related gifts for me. I’ve also struggled finding gifts for my dad on fathers day.

Photo gear is expensive and photography has many different niches. The studio photographer isn’t interested in the same things as a photojournalist. They use different gear under different conditions and probably live life differently. Buying gear is challenging for a photographer, nevermind somebody else buying gear for them.

Fortunately, you’ve stumbled on the ultimate Father's Day Gift Guide for Photographers in 2026. Many of these links are affiliate links and I receive comission on items sold. I also own and use many of these things.

Photography Books

In the modern age of social media, physical media is refreshing. It’s tangible. Ask dad about his favorite photographers and investigate if he has any of their books. If you he’s starting from scratch, here ya go.

Photography 101: Pocket Guide [$12]

Nice and simple with good information. Physically tangible. I teach photo workshops and utilize something similar to help my students.

The Photographer’s Playbook: 307 Assignments and Ideas (General photography) [$14]

The War of Art by Stephen Pressfield / Not about photography but a must read for every creative. (General photography) [$15]

Ansel Adams: The Camera (Landscape photography) [$25]

Micro Fiber Cloths

This is my number one needed photo accessory and I always seem to be running out of them. Recenty I fixed this and bought about a decade’s worth. That was more than $25 but here are more reasonable alternatives:

Multi-year supply: Frienda 50 Pcs Microfiber (Practical) [$10]

Always on: Chums keychain (Practical/Fun) [$7]

MISC

Camera Lens Coffee Mug (Fun) [$15]

These are actually for 4:20 dads and not coffee drinkers. But it’s 2026 and if dad has been a photographer for more than a decade, he already has a collection of these.

Screwdrivers and Hex Key Wrenches, Seven Functional Tool (Practical) [$21]

This is like having a jack when you get a spare tire. A lifesaver!

Camera Buttons for Photographers [$20]

Vintage camera ads transformed into small fashion. I make these by hand.

More Books

Robert Frank - The Americans (Documentary/Street Photography) [$41]

Henri Cartier-Bresson: The Decisive Moment (Documentary/Street Photography) [$42]

Robert Capa: 1933–1954 (Documentary/Photojournalism) [$42]

Who Shot Sports: A Photographic History, 1843 to the Present (Sports photography) [$40]

Disposable Cameras

Disposable cameras are great for photographers in 2026 because it brings us back to our roots. In fact, I think everyone loves disposable cameras. They are simple and fun. That said, these are not practical gifts. They’re expensive and getting the film processed will be an additional cost for dad. But he can handle it. It’s a fun gift but if dad makes some photos that become physical prints of the family - passed along for generations, this gift keeps giving. And I guess, that’s kinda the whole premise of photography. Welcome to the end of my Ted Talk.

Fujifilm QuickSnap Flash 400 One-Time-Use Camera - 2 Pack (fun gift) [$35]

Ilford XP2 Super Single Use Camera with Flash (fun gift) [$44]

Portable Power

Anker Power Bank, 20,000mAh (Practical) [$49.99]

Anker Prime Charging Station, 250W 6-Port GaN USB C Charger (Practical) [$99.99]

Dusters

I could make another drug reference but instead I’ll say that these are extremely useful as a photographer. You can go with the traditional route with canned air or a rechargeable battery version for the modern dad. The compressed air in the cxan packs the maximum punch but supply is limited.

Compressed Air Duster Cleaner, 10 oz Can, 6/Pack (Practical) [$27]

WOLFBOX MF60 Compressed Air Duster (Practical) [$32]

LightS

ULANZI UA12 Inflatable Tube Light (Practical + fun gift) [$36]

This light is one of favorite new pieces of camera technology I’ve stumbled on in a while. As a photojournalist the idea of packing a tube light by deflating it is pretty amazing. Keep in mind that lights like these are not powerful enough to have any effect outside during the day. However, something like this is great in a pinch for a photographer on the go.

Tripods

GEOMETRICAL Pocket Tripod PROv2 [$49]

I’d like one of these.

ULANZI T270 Light Stand/tripod [$49.99]

I have two of these stands that I use for my smartphone and for small lights. I do not recommend this as a tripod for a traditional camera but its great for smaller pieces of technology.

Gifts under $100

Portable Power

EF ECOFLOW Laptop Power Bank, 25000mAh Rapid Portable Charger, Triple 100W USB-C Ports [$89]

This is a very practical gift for photographers on the go. I don’t have one of these but want one. Ecoflow is a trusted brand and I’m happy with other products I own that they make.

Memory Cards

SD UHS-II 128GB Card V60 [$99]

Memory cards and digital storage prices have doubled in the last year or so, a result of the data center and AI boom. Memory cards are measured by how much data they store and how fast they can write and read data. This is a big and fast card and during these economic times, it will show dad you’re willing to get him the good stuff, whether he needs it or not, when the marketplace is fighting against him.

Mpix Print on Demand Gift Card ($0-$10 billion)

Mpix is one of the larger print on demand companies primarily geared to photographers. Get high quality photo prints, posters, photobooks, magnets, film processing and more.

Gifts under $200

Portable Power

EF ECOFLOW Portable Power Station RIVER 3, 245Wh [$196]

One of these guys lives in my micro camper van. Ecoflow is a leader in portable power and this is one the smallest units that has the ac outlet. Its compact and has a handle.

Memory Cards

TOUGH-G series SDXC UHS-II Card 64GB [$133]

New data centers need so much fast digital media storage that Sony had stopped manufacturing these consumer camera cards. Get them while you can. If you notice, this 64gig card is less than the 128 gig card above. That’s because it reads and writes data faster. This is most useful for sports photographers, anyone working on tight deadlines, and anyone who wants to save time moving files around. I’ll take ten, please.

Gifts under $500

SANDISK 1TB Extreme Portable SSD [$209]

Samsung T7 Shield Portable External Solid State Drive [$287]

Same thing going on with these SSD harddrives as we are seeing memory cards. Prices are exploding and this is somethiung dad is not looking forward to buying if he uses SSD drives for storage. This is a marketplace love letter. These two drives are two of the most popular.

Fujifilm Instax Mini EVO Hybrid Instant Camera [$343]

Like the Hungry Hungry Hippos board game, these types of cameras are fun, fun, fun — by the ton.

Pelican Air 1535 Carry-on Case [$475]

If dad travels and likes the best protection for his gear Pelican has been making his mouth drool since he first came across the brand. They make different versions of the carry-on size, but i highly recommmend getting one with insert dividers and not an empty case.

GIFTS OVER $500

Private and Customized Photography Workshop ($500+)

I offer private customized photography workshops in Florida , South Carolina and other destinations on the east coast. No two dads are at the same point in their journey with photography and group workshops just don’t cut it. I want my students having a life changing experience that is both enjoyable and practical. This is the best gift on the list.

EcoTank Photo ET-8550 Wireless Wide-format Color All-in-One Supertank Printer ($609)

This is the printer that I have and love. I use it to make prints up to 16×19 inches and to make photo zines. I now make all my own prints at home and can do it on demand. The ink costs on these eco-tanks are great in comparison to previous inkjet technology. If dad has been lookig for a color photo printer, I don’t know how this doesn’t make him happy. Just make sure he doesn’t use glossy paper.

camera gear for fathers day sony a9ii

Sony a9 II Mirrorless Camera ($4,500)

This is the camera body that I currently use. I have two. I am a full time photographer primarily working as a photojournalist. It is good.
