Mud bog driver stands on overturned truck and tosses helmet

“They told me to send it, so I sent it. And well, I left on the trans brake about 3500 and it pulled a little bit to the right until it just rode the wall and there was just no driving out of it. I didn't want to let out because letting out don't get you to first place,” explained the nineteen year-old mud bog driver, Chandler Smyly, in his second season out of Barnwell, SC on Saturday. The final weekend in March served as the season opener at Twitty’s Mudbog in Ulmer, SC. “It's a feeling like no other. It's insane,” says Smyly about the experience of being a driver.

Jeremy Smith (above right), out of Broad Creek, North Carolina captured first place finishes in both the B and C Class competitions. The Class A battle was won by Cassidy Lane, while Marvin and Mitch Fulford, placed first in the One Ton V-Tread and Mega Trucks classes. For those in the Midlands interested in witnessing the nearest mud bog event, Thunder Valley Mudplex in Neeses, SC is holding it’s final dance on Saturday March 15, 2019. Neeses is the closest venue from the capital city.
