Where are the best spots for photography in Newport?

Newport, Rhode Island is one of the best photography destinations in the United States. As a professional photographer of more than 30 years, here are my favorite spots for making photos in this stunning New England port city.

1. From the water on a sailboat cruise through the harbor. Hands down, the best place for making photos of Newport is from the water on a boat. As a mecca for sailing, group tours begin late morning and run through sunset.

2. On a bicycle on Ocean Avenue. This popular route is lined with the famous gilded age mansions overlooking the coastal cliffs. But there are only a few places for vehicles to pull off the road. And if you can’t stop, you can’t make photos. On a bicycle, you are in control.
