The best Sony lens for sports photography is a 70-200mm f2.8. It has a medium to long zoom range and a fast aperture allowing for higher shutter speeds in low light conditions.
There are two modern versions of the 70-200 f2.8 for their full frame mirrorless camera system. The more expensive GMII version is much lighter than the original version. I’m a photojournalist who covers disasters, in addition to sports, and having the lighter version is outstanding for long days at work.
